Hwy 14 Blues
Hwy 14 Blues is a pleading for the hwy to return him his baby. This title came as I live right by the highway and see it everyday.
I did hike Hwy 16 back in the 70's, before it became known as the Highway of Tears.
It is the only land route to Haida Gwaii fka Queen Charlotte Islands. That whole summer experience left quite an impression on me. It took a decade before I was able to make my way back to the coast and reside on Vancouver Island. All of Canada is so beautiful, only the mild coastal winters are what keeps me here and lends a big hand in crafting these tunes.
And after recording Hwy 14 Blues at Island Magic Studios, on the radio I heard Change the World. I am a big Eric Clapton fan and realize that songs' progressional magic were released from my psyche that day.
Oh Where is my Baby Today
Fiddle and mandolin on this number give it the bluegrass / country feel. And folks perk up at the 6/8 feel as they remember it from somewhere.
Thinking it says it all in the title. Sweet As Sweet Can be. Sure was a lotta fun makings this video...Another me myself and i productions. Keeping busy through covid. .
